What you need to know about VPC App and VPC website
  • App refers to any downloadable application (including mobile or tablet apps) owned or operated by VPC Services and Rentals. This includes all features, functionalities, tools, and content available on or through each application.
  • Eligible Mobile Devices denotes compatible, wireless internet-enabled mobile phones, tablets, or other comparable devices.
  • You or your refers to any individual or legal entity that accesses or uses the Website or App. References to access and/or use include browsing the Website or App.

Please read these Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) carefully before using the VPC App. Before proceeding to use the VPC Very Popular Cars website, please review the VPC Cookie Policy as well as the Privacy Policy, and Frequently Asked Questions. If you do not agree with the Terms and Conditions of VPC Services and Rentals, please do not use or access the Website or App.

We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to modify, alter, or update these Terms at any time.

You may choose to create a customer account through the VPC website or App.

It is your responsibility to keep your login information secure. You may not transfer your account or any rights under these Terms to another person.

You confirm that the information you provided during registration is accurate, complete, and current, and you agree to maintain and update this information. To use the App, you must:

  • Have internet access (e.g., Wi-Fi or 3G/4G with a data plan).
  • Download the App on your smartphone or tablet.
  • Provide and maintain complete, accurate, and up-to-date account information, including your contact details.

We reserve the right to add or remove features at our sole discretion.

Using the VPC App is free of charge; however, charges will apply for VPC Very Popular Car rental services. Additionally, your telecommunications service provider may impose data charges when you use the App. You are responsible for selecting an Eligible Mobile Device and for all issues related to the operation, performance, and costs associated with such a device.

By installing and/or using the App, you:

  • Consent to your personal data being exported to countries where you rented the car.
  • Acknowledge that wireless and/or internet transmissions are never completely private or secure. You understand that any message or information sent using the App may be read or intercepted by others, even if there is notice that a particular transmission is encrypted.
  • Consent to the installation of the App and its future updates and upgrades. You can withdraw your consent at any time by uninstalling the VPC Very Popular Cars App.
  • Acknowledge that your telecommunications service provider may impose data charges when you use the App or for data charges related to updating or upgrading the App if you haven’t restricted updates and upgrades to Wi-Fi connections.
  • Recognize that, from time to time, the App and/or services may experience delays, interruptions, or disruptions for an indeterminate period, including any inaccuracies or delays in transmission by your telecommunications service provider, or any interruptions, disruptions, or failures caused by strikes, power failures, equipment malfunctions, or other reasons.

We treat every customer with courtesy and appreciation, and we expect the same in return — even when circumstances, availability, or first impressions are not ideal. We welcome guests who respect our Terms and Conditions, our team, and our property, and who understand their financial responsibilities as renters.

Our agency maintains a zero-tolerance policy for discrimination, harassment, or any antisocial behaviour. This includes prejudice based on religion, nationality, gender, sexual orientation, or any other form of disrespect.

We respectfully request that you refrain from making any comments or asking questions regarding our team members’ background, beliefs, or identity. Such conduct is unacceptable and may result in the immediate cancellation of your booking without refund.

We kindly ask that all interactions remain respectful and focused on positive communication. Unnecessary conflict, attention-seeking, or drama take away from our ability to provide the best service to all customers. First impressions may vary and go both ways, but regardless of how someone appears or feels upon arrival, our team is committed to professionalism, and we appreciate the same courtesy in return.

Please do not project personal frustrations or issues brought into our office onto our staff or communication. We are here to assist you professionally and respectfully. Also, please don’t visit the office under the influence of anything that clouds your judgment or while agitated, as it makes communication counterproductive for everyone and may jeopardise your chances of booking a vehicle.

However, please note that the office door must be kept closed to prevent insects and odours from entering. We kindly ask all customers to knock before entering, open the door, and ensure it is properly closed behind them.

We do not guarantee vehicles for customers without a prior reservation; bookings can be made online to ensure availability. These are standard operational requirements, and we appreciate your understanding.

Thank you for helping us maintain a safe, respectful, and drama-free environment for all.

We ask you to provide us with the original of your valid passport and/or the original of your valid full/unrestricted driver’s license. Have your valid driver’s license at all times when you drive your rental car. To rent our vehicle, you must be no younger than 21 years old and have at least 3 years of driving experience. 

We offer two types of insurance options, both of which are clearly explained with each rental vehicle.

Insurance is only mandatory for renters traveling with children under the age of 12.
If you choose to include insurance, no security bond is required.

If you decide not to purchase insurance, a mandatory bond of $250 will be collected. In the event of any damage to the vehicle, the bond will be used to cover the cost of repairs. If the repair costs are less than the bond, the remaining balance will be refunded to you. If the damage exceeds $250, you will be responsible for paying the difference.

We kindly ask that you select your rental vehicle based on your specific needs, using the information provided on our website. Our vehicles are well-maintained, thoroughly cleaned, fueled, and handed over in sound mechanical condition. While some vehicles may show minor cosmetic imperfections, these do not affect their performance or overall appearance.

We offer airport pick-up with the rental vehicle itself, giving you the opportunity to assess its condition firsthand. For walk-in bookings made directly at our office, we often accompany you on a short 5–10 minute drive to demonstrate the quality of our vehicles. These measures are in place to ensure transparency and a fair rental experience.

Each vehicle displays the date of its last inspection on the windscreen, and we also inform you of the most recent maintenance service. While mechanical issues are rare, should one arise, we are committed to assisting you fully—once we receive proof that the issue resulted from our oversight or negligence.

Please note that exchanges or free upgrades will not be granted solely based on dissatisfaction with the booked vehicle. Any upgrade or replacement will incur an additional charge unless a fault is confirmed to be our responsibility.

Be aware that tire damage is typically the result of driving conditions and, as such, is the renter’s responsibility.

We offer a free airport transfer only for bookings of two days or more. If you wish to book for just one day, you will be charged for an additional day, and you will have access to our complimentary airport transfer services.

For one-day rentals, you may collect your vehicle from our office and return it there as well.

If you need an airport or accommodation transfer for a one-day booking, an additional fee of T$50 will be applied for each transfer. We will prepare an invoice based on your request, and your vehicle will be reserved after the payment is deposited into our account.

To create the invoice, please provide your driver’s license, email address, and details about the vehicle you wish to book.

If you are returning your rental car at the airport, please follow these requirements:

  1. Parking & Payment – Park the vehicle in the designated location provided to you at the start of your rental. Pay the parking fee directly to the attendant in the booth (please treat them courteously!).

  2. Fuel Level – The fuel level must match what it was at pick-up.

  3. Vehicle Condition – Fold the side mirrors, remove all personal belongings, and ensure no rubbish is left inside.

  4. Company Property – Do not take items supplied with the vehicle (e.g., phone chargers, Bluetooth speakers, or other rented accessories).

  5. Cleanliness & Respect – Any item left in the car — even a plastic bag, water bottle, or coffee cup — will be considered litter and a sign of disrespect.

  6. Penalties for Non-Compliance – If you leave rubbish behind, or take company property, we will issue an invoice for the cost. If you have insurance, the amount may be deducted from your coverage, and you will be invoiced for any remaining balance.

  7. Key Return – After checking the car, lock it and leave the key in the designated location, or hand it over in person if a team member is present. The designated location will be communicated to you in person.

  8. Parking Slip – Leave the parking payment slip on the dashboard in the rental car.

Please note: The manner in which you complete the airport drop-off may influence our decision to continue our business relationship with you in the future.

We thoroughly inspect all vehicles at the time of drop-off and will return any personal belongings found.

If you believe you may have left an item in the vehicle, please provide a detailed description. Include information such as the item’s color, approximate size, brand, model (if applicable), and any distinctive features that can help us identify it. If we locate your item, we’ll arrange for its return.

For items found and delivered within Tonga, a delivery fee of T$100 applies unless you choose to collect the item from our office. Your item will be returned upon cash payment to our staff member.

If you’ve already left Tonga, we can also organize delivery via EMS or courier services—provided the item is not on the restricted or prohibited shipping list. Shipping fees will vary based on the courier’s pricing and must be paid in advance.

We are committed to providing the best experience with our services. In the unlikely event of your dissatisfaction with our products or services, we kindly request a detailed explanation of the reasons for your refund request, accompanied by relevant photographs.

Our approach involves a thorough review of individual circumstances to ensure customer contentment. 

Please be advised that there might be a delay of several days before the refunded amount is credited to your bank account.

Should the refund not appear in your account within 5 to 7 days, it is advisable to reach out to your bank for assistance, as the account holder is responsible for confirming the receipt of funds.

Please be advised that for advance bookings, a partial refund of your payment is available if the reservation is cancelled no later than 25 working days before the scheduled vehicle pick-up date.

The renter is the only person allowed to drive our car (Primary Driver). If there is another person (Second Driver) who may be driving the rental car, we need to have the original of valid driver’s license of the Second Driver. Second Driver must be no younger than 21 years old and have at least 3 years of driving experience.

You take our car with a full fuel tank- you return it with the full fuel tank.

If the fuel tank has less fuel at drop-off than it had at pick-up, you pay $250 for fuel cost.

We charge 1 full-day rental cost for 1 calendar day intervals. Please inform us as accurately as possible about the drop-off time, so we can calculate your rental cost. In the case of EARLY DROP-OFF, the rental cost is non-refundable. In case of LATE DROP-OFF, you will be charged an extra daily rate.

We highly recommend purchasing our HAPPY DRIVE ($92 per day) or 24/7 CAR ASSIST ($46 per day) services – comprehensive roadside coverage plans designed to protect you from flat tires and damaged keys. In the event of an accident, if you do not have a coverage plan, our roadside assistance team will be dispatched to your location to resolve your issue, incurring a fee of $350. An additional $300 fee will be charged for lost keys, and the tire repair fee will vary depending on the size of the tire.

As a renter and Primary Driver of our vehicle, you are responsible for all damage to a rental car, including but not limited to collision, rollover, theft, tire damage, vandalism, damage resulting in the need for medical attention, flood, fire, and other natural disasters.

The detailed information regarding your responsibility and financial liability/ accountability as a driver, is stated in your VPC rental agreement. 

If rental car is damaged, immediately call Tonga Police at 922, and make sure to contact VPC Rentals (our contact details are included in a VPC rental agreement which you sign prior to the rental vehicle pick-up).

Kindly stay next to the rental car and wait for our crew to arrive.

VPC is happy to welcome pets in our rental vehicles- please inform us upon the booking of a pet passenger so you can have a car with pet-friendly upholstery. The complementary pack of pet bowls for snacks and water and bottled water will be placed in the boot of your rental car. Your pet’s welcome pack will also include contact details of the local vet clinic. We expect you to follow our friendly advice on how to keep your pet happy, and rental vehicle clean, and to avoid extra charges for car cleaning before drop-off.

­Groom your pet ahead of your trip and trim the claws. Use a special seat cover for pets. If you do not have it, use a thick blanket. Leave a slightly open box of baking soda in the car: pet smell is as hard to control as pet hair and baking soda happens to be the cheapest natural odor absorber. After beach fun with your pet, make sure that the four-legged passenger boards the car with a fully dry and sand-free coat and paws. Do not leave your pet unattended in the car. Do not lock your pet in the car, especially with closed windows. On the last day of your rental, vacuum all areas of the car your pet interacted with, especially in the seat cracks and under the floor mats. If the vehicle does not meet our drop-off standards, $150 will be added to your payment for cleaning.

Although VPC welcomes dogs, cats, and other pets, to show our respect to you, we encourage you to show respect to us by keeping your rental vehicle clean.

Your driving speed must not exceed 45 km/h in residential areas, and 70 km/h on the freeway.

Driver and front seat passenger must use safety seatbelts. Tongan law is not specific about using baby car seats, but we are happy to provide it upon your request.

Using a mobile phone while driving for talking, reading or texting is prohibited in Tonga.

Consuming alcohol and driving is prohibited in Tonga.

VPC does not allow alcohol consumption and smoking in our rental cars. We maintain a 100% environment and customer-friendly, community-safe, smoke-free fleet policy to ensure that all our customers drive in a comfortable, clean car, and respect Tongan law and our communities.

Should VPC’s non-drinking non-smoking policy be violated by you, a penalty of up to $500 will be added to the cost of a vehicle hire.
